Time is running out - we need your pledges
For the last four years Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums has run successful Christmas fundraising appeals to support its work with local communities and children and young people. Last year through the generosity of supporters the Big Give Christmas appeal ‘Everyone deserves a warm welcome’ raised over £12,000.
For this year’s campaign, ‘Help museums give children the very best start’ Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums is on a mission to raise £15,000 to support the wellbeing, educational achievements and aspirations of children and young people in the North East. Nearly 2 years of lost learning, little social interaction, and few opportunities have impacted under 18s’ educational success, wellbeing, and skill set.
Research proves that engaging with museums and galleries has a positive effect on children’s educational achievements and behaviour. With funding from this appeal, the museum service can provide experiences to improve children and young people’s confidence, knowledge, skills and behaviour.
They need to raise £3,750 in pledges to the appeal by 1 September to be eligible for 1:1 match funding and time is quickly running out.
If successful, pledges will be doubled in the appeal week in November providing twice the impact for children and young people.
If £15,000 is raised, it will provide access to museum or gallery learning programmes for 6,000 children.
If you would like to help us give children and young people in the North East the best start in life, please pledge your support here.
