About

Join in the annual festival of Northumberland's traditional music, dance, dialect, crafts, stories and heritage. 

The Chantry hosts some of the musical events and piping competitions. 

Chantry programme 

All details below are subject to confirmation. 

Audiences at the Chantry are requested to vacate the room after each scheduled event to assist with logistics. 

Friday 25 April 

Morning

  • Border pipes have-a-go session with David Faulkner, in conjunction with the Bagpipe Society. 

Afternoon

  • Shanties in the Chantry with Ian McKone of the Ran Tanners. 
  • Followed by Dulcimer workshop with Sandie and Ken Hudson on the Appalachian dulcimer and guitar. 

Saturday 26 April 

Morning

  • Meet the Pipers drop in session for players and listeners with the Northumbrian Pipers' Society. 

Afternoon 

  • Competitions for Northumbrian Pipes and Border/Lowland/Half-Long Pipes. Audiences are welcome to attend. 
  • Border Pipes concert with David Faulkner and friends. 

Sunday 27 April 

Morning 

  • Come and Try Dulcimer workshop with Nonsuch Dulcimer Club on hammered and mountain dulcimers. 

Afternoon 

  • Tall Tales and Wild Piping with storyteller Taffy Thomas MBE and multi-instrumental piper, Jordan Aitken.
